Abstract:

The twentieth century witnessed the professionalization of the arts, with higher education separating our disciplines from one another, and within disciplines, further specialization occurring. In the twenty-first century, with audiences demanding interdisciplinary, immersive, participatory, multisensory experiences we are beginning to see a reversal of these trends. This talk will explore the use of technology in creating new ways to experience, teach, and engage with art, using examples from higher education and the nonprofit sector.
