Every six years, the Hong Kong SAR University Grants Committee performs an exhaustive appraisal of all faculty and institutions across the territory. These are appraised at both the 'Panel' level (e.g. Social Science; Humanities), as well as the 'Unit of Assessment (e.g. history).
We are #3 for humanities measured by the percentage of 'World Leading' (4*) research.
At the Unit of assessment level, in terms of 'World Leading' and/or 'Internationally excellent' research (4* & 3*), we are:
• #2 in history ('World Leading' & 'Internationally excellent') and joint #1 for research impact
• #3 in Chinese language & literature ('World Leading' & 'Internationally excellent')
