NEXUS: BELONGING RESEARCH NETWORK - [NEXUS: BELONGING RESEARCH NETWORK] An Open Dialogue: Rethinking Belonging
3:00pm - 4:30pm
Online

Our upcoming event is an open dialogue that asks us to rethink what “belonging” truly is. Together with our co-hosts, narrativesbyus, we welcome people from all walks of life to discuss the idea of belonging in Hong Kong in the context of wider global conversations on Assimilation and the Model Minority Myth.

In this session, fellow co-hosts narrativesbyus will first open the dialogue for {rethinking belonging}, which will then be followed by an open plenary discussion. We look forward eagerly to your voices as well!

All are welcome!

Nexus: The Belonging Research Network is a forum for discussion of research and practice on what it is to belong in Hong Kong. Convened by James Simpson (Division of Humanities, HKUST) it brings together: NGO support organizations; the people they support; policy activists in social inclusion; arts and cultural bodies; academics; students; and other friends and supporters.

narrativesbyus is a creative and continuously evolving space for local ethnic minorities (EMs) in Hong Kong. The collective aims to create a tapestry of different lived experiences to complicate the simplistic term “ethnic minority” and all its connotations in the public imagination. Through zinemaking and community events, narrativesbyus hopes to open up new spaces for EMs to facilitate self-expression through different creative mediums. The founding members are all local EMs who were brought up in the city.
